Pepper's class
I took Pepper Cory's Two Blocks quilting class yesterday at the Vermont Quilt Festival. It was a design class, and I learned so much - even though it was billed as a "beginner" class. It was great to see Pepper again too.
Our quilt project was setting Economy Patch and Variable Star in a nine-block quilt. I used some of the fabrics I got for my 50th - turquoise, orange and purple. Most of the other women in the class used more subtle colors. There was a nine-year-old girl in the class who also used bright colors, though.
Pepper helped us sort our fabrics and worked with each of us to help us select fabrics with the right contrast to create a medallion effect. It was a good mental exercise to concentrate on designing from the center out, instead of designing individual blocks.
