Wharton Center shows
I saw two shows at the Wharton Center last week. Both were great!
On October 31, four of us skipped handing out Halloween candy to see Camelot. When we bought our tickets several months ago, we decided on this show because Michael York was billed as playing King Arthur. So - it was a little disappointing to find out a few weeks ago that Michael York had been replaced by Lou Diamond Phillips (of La Bamba fame). We did not go with high expectations! But I'm happy to say that Lou totally redeemed himself. He did a wonderful job as King Arthur, and the actors playing Guenevere and Lancelot were great too. Our group really enjoyed the performance! I'm usually not that keen on musicals, but this one was worth it.
On November 1, Tish and I went to see Brian Bedford in a one-man show about Shakespeare. Brian Bedford has been in plays for many years at Stratford, Ontario. He was also the voice of Robin Hood the fox in the Disney movie. He told the story of Shakespeare's life using the chronology of his sonnets and plays, and he recited many of Shakespeare's famous speeches. It was mesmerizing. We are so lucky to be able to see performances like this - and right in our backyard. :)
