Last Block Exchange for 2008
The block exchange quilters met at my house on Monday night for the last potluck meeting this year. Almost everyone was there to eat the wonderful food (lots of hot dishes and, I think, six desserts!) and to lay out their blocks.
Linda Kuhlman has posted photos of the blocks on her blog - click here to see all the quilts. These are going to make some lovely quilts. [Thanks, Linda, for posting the photos!]
Many of them are already pieced or partially-pieced: Lisa's lime and raspberry, Jan's bright blocks, Daisy's Snails Trail, and shocker of them all, Carol Schon's leaf quilt. Of course, Louise has pieced and quilted two quilts from the orphan blocks she collected. The rest of us have our stacks of blocks to piece.
It was a really lovely get-together - especially because we got to hear from Terry about her son John's experiences so far as a freshman at UofM. We've known him since he was born and now he's college-age - time flies by. The quilt she is making for him from this year's block exchange blocks will have photos of him from his cross-country team (he was a star runner at Williamston HS last year). We're so proud of him!
I'm about half-way through quilting Rachel's wedding quilt. Here's a photo that Linda took of me holding up the partially-quilted quilt. I'm close to running out of quilting thread, but Cindy has a spool of the same brand/dye lot if I run out before I finish. [Thanks Cindy!]

Ruth: thanks for the nice comments about John C, and for hosting this group all year. I am truly lucky to have such a great group of friends to help make this quilt.
