Dog park
The sun came out today, so I took Sadie and Dora to the new Soldans Dog Park. Dora had to stay on a leash (still recuperating from surgery), but I let Sadie run free. It was a little muddy but a nice, large park. There is a path going around a small lake, with a small meadow on the north side.
There were no other dogs there - just a work crew that was trying to find and remove a deer carcass they'd been told was on the lakebank. Not sure if they ever found it (and thank goodness that Sadie didn't find it either, although she did help them look for awhile...). The dog park is completely fenced, but the workmen had left a gate open and as we walked by the open gate, a flock of wild turkeys ran out of the dog park and across the road. I was glad that Dora was leashed. Sadie missed the whole event because she was down at the lakeshore at that point of the walk - the turkeys were safely camouflaged by the time she rejoined us.
It looks like the dog park will be good for weekdays during the fall, but it closes 1/2 hour after dusk, so we might only get to go on weekends during the winter.
