More St. Francis blocks

Here are two more blocks for my St. Francis quilt from Beth and Louise. Both represent "where there is sadness, joy."

Beth chose the block Circling Swallows to honor St. Francis' love of animals and my love of birds. The dark side of the block represents sadness - dark, muddled, confused. As you move to the other side, the block grows brighter and clearer representing joy. A beautiful block - thanks Beth!

Louise's block is the Memory block. Louise's husband volunteers for the R.J. Scheffel Toy Project. They make wooden items for children, including memory boxes that are 8"x9"x3". These boxes go to Ele's Place in Lansing and Ann Arbor. Ele's Place is an organization where a child can go to help with grief after their mother or father has died. As the grieving children fill the boxes with mementos of lost loved ones, it is hoped that out of their sadness will come joy. This is a special and meaningful block - thanks Louise!
