St. Francis blocks from Daisy and Terry
Two more blocks for my St. Francis quilt!
The block on the left is from Daisy Dehaven and represents "out of darkness, light." Daisy used dark brown and gold fabrics - two colors that are Daisy's favorites for quilting. The Ohio Star design is one that Daisy enjoys piecing, and when she was our Guild president, she instituted the Ohio Star block as the traditional pattern for the annual Presidents' quilts. She included the birds in the center of the star because I love birds and because they represent St. Francis' love of animals.
The block on the right is from Terry Person and represents "make me an instrument of your peace." Terry took "instrument" to mean music because she always feels peaceful after playing her clarinet. Terry and I both love blue fabric, so she used many blue pieces in this lovely hand-pieced block depicting birds in flight.
