Kurt Vonnegut

I was sad to hear that Kurt Vonnegut died this week.

I was lucky enough to have dinner with him about twenty years ago when he spoke at the Midland Writers Festival. I was seated next to him, and I babbled on and on about how much I liked his books, while he sipped whiskey and nodded. Very mortifying to think back on now!

After I was done babbling, he changed the subject to censorship in libraries, and we ended up having a good conversation. It is sad to know that we've lost a great writer.
