Gloria Ruth Stafford Hansen

Gloria Ruth Stafford Hansen, 81, of Grand Rapids, MN passed away on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at the Grand Itasca Medical Center in Grand Rapids. She was born December 8, 1925 to Marvin and Ruth (Covell) Stafford in Atwater, Minnesota and graduated from Atwater High School in 1943. After high school she attended and graduated from the Business College in Minneapolis. Gloria was united in marriage to Harold Hansen on December 8, 1951. Following their marriage they lived in Chicago until they moved to Crystal Lake, IL in 1961. After her husband’s retirement from United Air Lines as a pilot of 32 years, they moved to Grand Rapids in 1985. Prior to their retirement, they enjoyed their summers with family and friends at their Little Moose cabin located north of Grand Rapids. Her home was your home and was always open to the neighborhood kids. Gloria loved being a homemaker and was a loving mother and devoted grandmother. Over the years she enjoyed volunteering in her children’s’ schools, card games, bingo, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and could finish the Rubik’s cube puzzle in record time. Everyone enjoyed her cooking and she was especially known for her delicious prime ribs, lip smacking barbecue ribs and tasty cereal mix. She possessed a wonderful sense of humor and was the first to laugh at herself. She will be forever missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold Hansen in 1988; beloved granddaughter, Jennie Marie Guyer in 2003; sister and brother-in-law, Corinna and Arvid Schmeckpeper; brother and sister-in-law, Myron “Buddy” and Doloris Stafford; and brother-in-law, Owen Dukelow, Sr. Survivors include daughter, Holly (Joe) Guyer of Coleraine, MN; son, Michael C. Hansen of Crystal Lake, IL; two loving grandsons, Dale and Trevor Guyer of Coleraine; sister, Harriet Dukelow of Bloomington, MN; numerous nephews and nieces; special friends, Marygrace “MG” Frawley of Ivanhoe, IL and Walter Mester of Grand Rapids, MN.
FUNERAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 31 at First United Presbyterian Church in Coleraine. Visitation will be one hour prior in the church. Burial will follow the service at Lakeview Cemetery. Labels: family
