Christmas in Australia Dec 25
Christmas Day - we all drove out to Lara to Jack and Rose's for Christmas dinner with the whole family: Jack and Rose, Jeff, Grace and Blair, Dianne, Roger, James and Charlie, and Sue. Big barbecue for Christmas dinner, with tons of food, including a Pavlova that Rose made and traditional Christmas cake that Di made.
Jeff, Roger and Blair taught us how to bat and bowl at cricket. Then we took a road trip to the You Yangs mountains and hiked up to Big Rock. On the way back to the house, we saw lots of kangaroos in the wild. When we got back, food was ready for "tea" - a second giant Christmas dinner - this time prawns and Sue's homemade custard and mince pies.
Other wildlife and events - we saw a flock of cockatoos and a flock of gallas (sp?) and two eagles. On the way out of Ballarat, we saw Santa in a firetruck accompanied by an assistant in a koala suit throwing candy to children. We drove up next to the firetruck and Santa pelted our car with "lollies."
A wonderful Christmas day!
