Great Ocean Road trip

Yesterday we took a road trip along Great Ocean Road (the Southern Ocean and Bass Strait). We drove from Ballarat to Warrnamgool and along Ocean Road to see the rock formations. The most spectacular were the Twelve Apostles at Port Campbell. We also drove through Otway National Park (lots of gum trees and huge forest ferns) to Geelong, and then back to Ballarat. Catherine got to swim in the ocean at Apollo - Debbie and I only waded - pretty cold water even though the temp was about 100.

The only downside was the flies - everyone did the "Australian salute" at the rock formations. We had tea at Lavers Hill and then picked up fish and chips in Geelong on our way home.

Today I went to an Australian fabric shop and also back to the Wildlife park to pick up our photo with the koalas. Not sure what is next on the agenda but we're having a great time!

  • What a great trip you are having! I myself, am unemployed as of today, but someone has to do it.

Spartans lost to Boston College last night by a field goal.. Spartans should have won handily but our quarterback was generous and gave away 4-5 interceptions and a fumble. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, a Spartan tradition.:)

Tell Roger harhar! What do they do? Put up P'rangi or P...rangi, R (if there're brothers playing)??! You'll just have to make bigger scoreboards.

So glad you're having such a great time with the family.

  • Hello from Virginia! We're glad to know that you arrived safely in Australia. Everyone made it here for Christmas, including Anne. A good time was had by all. We went to the Hopper exhibition at the Nat. Gallery and to a "Going West" quilt exhibition at the Renwick that was absolutely amazing. One of the quilts in the show survived the muddy fields of the Civil War, yet it looked brand new. We had tears in our eyes as we looked at it. Happy New Year to you - glad to know you're having a wonderful time down under. Love, Ellen
