Award Week - November 2009
I'm finally posting about my week with Mom visiting and receiving my award. It has been a really wonderful experience - one of the best times of my life! Here are some photos summing up the "award days."
My two tables of friends, family, and co-workers at the awards banquet.
The banner that staff made for me and unfurled when I went up to give my speech. I had to try not to cry! It is now on the wall in my office.
Giving my award speech. It was great to hear everyone laugh! I had a lot of fun writing this speech and even more fun giving it!
Triumphant return to my table. :). So glad I didn't trip in my heels.
Me and plaque - special thanks to Linda for this photo, banner photo, and photo of me and Mom.
Anne Diamond gave me a dozen roses to celebrate - beautiful yellow and peach colors.
Another gift! Daisy gave me this beautiful Courthouse Steps quilt to commemorate my award!
Photo Mom took of me at home showing off my plaque.
Photo of the new piano I bought with my prize money. Every time I play it, it will be a memory of this special time.
Mom sewed her St. Francis block for me while she was here. Here she is ironing her completed block. I love it!
Mom on her way to the airport after her week-long visit with me. I was sad to see her leave. We had such a wonderful time together.

Ruth, we'll have to work up a two-handed duet on the piano. Maybe a Christmas song. (We could always resort to chopsticks or 'heart and soul' - oh noooo!)

Congratulations! You looked marvelous in your dress and fancy shoes. Thanks for letting me help you look good on your special day. The piano is really pretty. Are you doing to redecorate around the piano color now? A pair of black leather sofas would look great!!

I was so glad I could be there to see you get the award and take some pics......you looked stunning.
The piano is such a nice thing to get for yourself. I'm pleased you got it and will enjoy it with memories attached.

I'm sorry I didn't get to visit with your Mom (or, you, too, for that matter!). You looked maaavelous (and, no, I did not spell it incorrectly --- ala Billy Chrystal). I look forward to seeing the new piano.
