Birthday quilt for Debbie

Debbie called last night to say that she loves her new quilt! Here are photos of the front and back of her new quilt, Japanese Showcase. Many of the blocks were sewn by quilter friends for my Block Exchange in 2008. In 2009, I set the blocks and machine-quilted the quilt using an overall geometric sashiko pattern. I finished handsewing the binding and mailed it to Mom a couple weeks ago, and Mom gave it to Debbie for her birthday last night.

This weekend, I hope to finish handsewing the binding on the Beatles quilt so that I can give it away on Monday (it is a belated housewarming gift for a co-worker - don't tell her!). I'm using a lovely blue dotted fabric for the binding. I think that I'll have to go to Country Stitches to buy more yardage of this blue fabric, as it also coordinates beautifully with my St. Francis blocks.
