Bonus blocks and Feb QuiltALong
I made a couple bonus blocks for Debra's bird quilt, because I couldn't figure out how to use these two novelty fabrics in the main block exchange block I made for her. I used a nine-patch variation for the owl fabric (must have been channeling Jan since I've been reading her biking journal daily). For both the birds-in-lilacs block and the owl block, I used the green leaf fabric that I bought during Debra's "rereat" and that I used in her main block, so there is a little continuity among the three blocks, even tho the bird fabrics in each are so different.
I cut out the pieces for my February QuiltALong blocks (the above is the layout for one block). I'm planning to piece these blocks on my trip to Indiana next week. I used this February pattern for my first bird block for Debra. It is a good block for a hand-piecing project.
