Good friends and a good book

Last night Lisa, Tish, Daisy, Carol and I went to Reno's East patio to hear the "Jimmy Buffet" band, Living Soul. Lisa has posted photos here on her blog. It was a beautiful evening - good weather, good music, good food, good beer - and most of all - good friends! Thanks, Lisa, for cluing us in to Living Soul on the patio. They play there most Weds in the summer, and I'm sure we'll be back soon.

I just finished reading (actually, listening to on CD) the book, Water for Elephants, by Sarah Gruen. Ruth Farmer recommended the book to me awhile ago - what a wonderful book! It is the story of Jacob Jankowski, now 90 or 93 and living in a nursing home, remembering when he was 23 and working for a traveling circus during the Depression. Linda, Daisy, and Sharon told me they also read the book and loved it. Have the rest of you read it yet? Tell me what you think.

  • I read "Water for Elephants" quite a long time ago (many books ago) --- I remember that I really liked it and, now, you have reminded me about the story line. I told Daisy that Michael has shared a couple of brews with Jimmy Buffett --- says he is a "regular" guy --- my thought, "How could that be?!"
