We're in Edinburgh!

Yesterday we went to the James Herriott museum in Thirsk. The museum is in the author's old house, 23 Skeldale House. I cried when we walked into the parlour and saw Mrs. Pumphrey and Tricki Woo (who barked at us). It was like seeing old friends - I'm too sentimental. :)

We then drove through the Yorkshire Dales on winding roads - really beautiful 'James Herriott' country. We stayed last night in Scotch Corner at the edge of the Dales.

Today we drove to Edinburgh and stopped at Roslin on the way to see Roslin Chapel and Castle (from the DaVinci Code). The Chapel was under construction and was surrounded by a scaffolding, but we were allowed to climb up on the scaffolding, so it was pretty amazing. The interior was beautiful.

Now we're in Edinburgh, staying at the Ailsa Craig Hotel. When we arrived, Princess Anne's car drove by, with an entourage of police on motorcycles. Or, at least, that's what we were told.... Tish and I were too busy parking the car to notice. We just had a late lunch at the Slug and Lettuce, and we're now starting some late sightseeing.

Note to Aaron - we've seen many goodlooking Scottish men. Will keep you posted.
