Online on the Isle of Skye
We're on the Isle of Skye in a town called Sconser at the Sconser Lodge. Yesterday we went to a church service at Greenside Parish Church - a Presbyterian kirk in Edinburgh. The congregation was few and elderly, but very friendly and welcoming to me and Tish.
We drove north to Stirling and went to the Wallace Monument which is on the top of a steep hill. We climbed the hill up a winding road through a forest - beautiful and exhausting. At the monument, we found that we had to climb the tower to get to the museum and tower views. We had to climb a very narrow circular staircase up the tower - 246 steps in all. Tish made it to the top, but I quit after about 180 steps at the landing for the museum. The climb down was a lot easier. We also stopped at Stirling Castle and then drove north to Inverness. We've been really lucky - unusual sunshine and only occasional rain - 'Scotch mist.'
At Inverness we checked into Bay View B&B and had dinner at the Cawdor Tavern (Ellen - this is where your mother told us to eat - please tell her it was great!). It was still sunny after dinner, so we toured the Culloden battlefield before going back to the B&B. Evette - the B&B had two dogs - a Westie named Susie and a Jack Russell - both plump.
Today we drove around Inverness and then along the north shore of Loch Lomond. Amazingly we had sun again for the beginning of Loch Ness. But when we got out of the car at Urquhart castle, we were hit with a surprise hailstorm so we ran back to the car and skipped that castle.
We drove over the bridge at Loch Alsh to the Isle of Skye. It is absolutely beautiful on Skye. We drove around the Isle - it is so incredible. I don't think the photos we've taken will do it justice.
Tomorrow we're headed for the Lake District. I'll get back online when I can again - maybe in a few days when we get to the Cotswolds - you never know where you'll find Internet service.

It has been in the 90s here the past two days and my ac isn't working right. The four of us had a memorial picnic on the patio in the hot breeze. I would enjoy a hailstorm right now.
After I print the posts, they read them and then tape them up on their mantel. Who knows!

It's so neat to read of your travels. I got out the atlas to see where you are.
It's hot and humid in Michigan.

"Tish made it to the top, but I quit after about 180 steps at the landing for the museum. The climb down was a lot easier." This indicates either an iron deficiency or too much beer. I'm opting for too much beer.
No post today? It's the highlight of my mornings. Better than the Lansing State Journal!
