Cotswolds, Bath, and Salisbury

Yesterday we drove through the Cotswolds and saw many 'Agatha Raisin' villages - thatched cottages and gardens everywhere. We drove to Bath and saw the Roman baths and then to Wells to see the cathedral.

We found a great B&B south of Salisbury at a horse farm in Britford. Our rooms were in a gorgeous, huge old country manor, with beautiful gardens and the Hampstead Avon flowing through the backyard. Horse stables and pastures for the thoroughbred horses surrounding the grounds - we felt like we were in the lap of luxury. Dogs at this B&B included two Jack Russells and a giant schnauzer.

We had dinner in a pub about two miles away from the farm - again great food and good pints(Palmer's Copper Ale). It was a really old pub with low ceilings - 6 feet under the beams which were padded.

After dinner,we drove down the lane behind the farm to look at the old parish church there but met with a dead end and had to do a Y-turn by a parked car to drive back to the farm. The parked car was packed with teenage boys smoking pot - we had to laugh at their feeble attempt to hide from us by rolling up their windows.
